Opera in Rome Rome has more than 80 theatres, each offering a varied repertoire of theatre performances. A lot of the most important productions in the world can be found here, but and it is also interesting to catch some of the classic performances. Rome's opera season runs from November or December to May. The performances languages are English, Italian and several other languages, but the language usually depends upon who is sponsoring the performance.
Festivals and summer Rome has two big theatre festivals, Festival Rome Europe in the summer and in the autumn Festival d'Autunno. In summer when the Opera is closed the performers go out-site and play in parks, squares and podiums. A lot of theseperformances are free. Tip on performance days: Teatro dell' Opera gives unsold tickets away for free after 9:00am.
