Rome has a real cross section of different architectural styles, from the ancient and classical to the ultra modern.  This is also true of the interior design of  the houses and flats in the city.  Furniture and home furnishings are a matter of personal taste, and there are shops that cater for everything! 

Second hand furniture, especially tables, side tables, chairs and smaller items in wood, cast iron etc can easily be found in Rome’s many markets.  

And for those essential practical purchases Rome has its own Ikea, in Via Porta di Roma
